I am delighted to share with you the exciting news of an influential addition to the AGRF board. Please join me in welcoming Associate Professor Vanessa (Ness) Tyrrell who has joined the AGRF board.
Ness, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), currently serves as Head of the Clinical Translation Research Division and Program Director of the Zero Childhood Cancer National Precision Medicine Program at Children’s Cancer Institute. In this role, she oversees the establishment and sustainability of the program, building it into a sustainable permanent national precision medicine platform. With over 30 years of experience in genetic testing across various sectors including public and private pathology, global biotech commercial industry exposure, and more than two decades of voluntary service to peak professional bodies, Ness is a recognised leader in her field.
Beyond her primary roles, Ness has been a contributor to advisory committees for both state and federal governments, professional bodies, and policy development initiatives. Notably, she served as the President of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia. Additionally, Ness is an Associate of RCPA, and brings a wealth of expertise to the translation, implementation, and management of genomics in healthcare.
This diverse background uniquely allows Ness to lead the multidisciplinary ZERO program, addressing policy challenges in the clinical application of rapidly emerging genomic technologies for better health outcomes.
Please join us in extending our congratulations to Ness on her appointment to the AGRF board. Her experience and dedication to advancing genomics in healthcare will certainly enrich our board’s expertise.
