Congratulations all NHMRC grant recipients!

12 December 2016

AGRF wishes to congratulate the recipients of the latest NHMRC grant round. In addition we would like to congratulate Sonika Tyagi, AGRF’s Bioinformatics Supervisor who is a Chief Investigator on a recently released NHMRC project for $800,000.

The grant’s lead is Professor Roger Smith from the University of Newcastle with the project entitled "Understanding the myometrial transition at term and preterm labour to guide tocolysis"

About the project

Understanding the myometrial transition at term and preterm labour to guide tocolysis

The project seeks to understand how the muscle cells of the uterus transform at the time of labour. The research team propose that this transformation is organised by enzymes that modify the histones around key genes. The team will test if a similar pathway operates in cases of preterm labour. The results will guide the development of new ways of treating premature labour that will use targeted nanoparticles to deliver siRNA directly to the muscle cells of the uterus.
